| Newport Folk Festival The Newport Folk Festival and its sister Newport Jazz Festival are the grandparents of the modern music festival and have left an indelible mark on the landscape of music history. NFF is renowned for introducing new artists as in Bob Dylan in the 1960s and Alabama Shakes in 2012, and famous for Dylan going electric in 1965 and The Pixies going acoustic in 2005. Today, NFF curates a diverse range of up-and-coming bands, the genre's stalwarts and the year's hottest acts. This year features Jack White, Mavis Staples, Ryan Adams, Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), Puss N Boots (featuring Norah Jones), Jimmy Cliff, Jeff Tweedy, Lake Street Dive, Houndmouth and dozens of others. http://www.newportfolk.org |
