Well hung heart - Go forth and multiply

Well Hung Heart is a rock band from California. The group is a two-piece and consists of Greta Valenti (Vocals) and Robin Davey (Guitar and Bass), although when touring they do move up to a three-piece with the addition of a drummer. I'm curious to see what they're like live as having one band member doing both guitar and bass is easy in the studio but I can't see how it works in a live situation.
After releasing a couple of EPs in 2011, they released their debut album in 2013, and aren't wasting any time as they're back with their second album.

Well after listening to the album a few times I have to say it's a great album. One slight criticism is that the album does include quite a mix of styles ranging from rock to punk to grunge and while the songs are all great, they don't quite feel like they fit together as an album - it's more a collection of songs. That though is a minor fault that can very easily be overlooked thanks to the strength of the songs here.

Brief comments on a few songs..

Opening track "Big plans" is a great rock song and one that reminds me of the band Garbage. Great vocals and a catchy riff combine perfectly. Check out the video below.

"Black Lightning" features strong guitar riffs and vocals that start quite softly then rise to screams. it's a great track

"Hellaby" has more of a punk sound

"Rehab is for Rich kids" is another great track and feels like a rockier version of Transvision Vamp.

There is a lot of variety here, and while some may feel there's too much, others won't mind that. Overall this is a great album and one that I'm likely to be listening to quite a lot over the coming months.
