Frontiers/BAM

San Diego metal force BENEDICTUM is back for a fourth installment, which is also produced by Jeff Pilson (DOKKEN). The band consists of leather lungs Veronica Freeman, guitarist Pete Wells, bass man Aric avina, and new drum enforcement Rikard Stjernquist (ex. JAG PANZER).

After a looped intro, the half right chorus of “Fractured” ensues. There is a lot of 90-ies aggression here, topped by Veronica trying screaming her heart out. There is thrash in the mix, e.g. “Fighting for My Life”, “Obey” etc. I don´t really expect that off a Frontiers release. The best here is “Crossing Over”, complete with heavy metal thunder and a nice enough guitar pattern. “Thornz” has a ring of RUSH, “Apex Nation” is slightly reminiscent of SAXON´S “Motorcycle Man” in the riff. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, but as is the case of “Die to Love You”, nothing really lingers with me. I wonder how Veronica´s voice is expected to last? Somehow this has a ring of Pilson after the golden years with DOKKEN.
