Massive - Full throttle

Review3669_Massive_-_Full_throttle

Are you ready for some good loud high voltage rock and roll? Well there's a band from Australia that has the album to satisy that need. No it's not ACDC, nor Airbourne, nor Rose Tattoo, it's in fact a new band - MASSIVE. Like their counterparts named, it's damn good hard rock music - don't let the fact it's being released by Earache fool you into thinking it's some extreme metal with growling vocals, this is proper rock music. In fact Earache have been signing up a few great rock bands in recent years and Massive join bands including Blackberry smoke and Rival Sons at the label.

A few brief comments on the album.....

So what's the album like? Well I suggest you start off by watching the video below, for the opening track, "One by one" and hear for yourself what they're like

"Big trendsetter" reminds me more of Black Stone Cherry than ACDC, and that's something I'm very happy about - it shows that Massive are certainly not trying to be a clone of ACDC and have a much more varied sound than Airbourne.

"Dancefloor" is a superb track - really insanely catchy.

I'm not sure "Ghost" really qualifies as a ballad, although technically it is. It's just got more power and energy than most ballads you'll hear.

There are four bonus tracks on the album including two cover versions - ACDC's "If you want blood (You've got it)" and Aerosmith's "Rats in the cellar". Both are extremely well done

Normally albums contain at least one weaker track (and in some cases there's lots of filler and very little killer material), but with this album there's not a single weak track. This really is a great album and one that you need to listen to loud - just be warned, once you listen to it once you won't want to stop listening to it. If they're as good live as they are on the album then their UK tour with The Treatment and Buffalo Summer in October is going to be unmissable.

Highly recommended.
