Joanne Shaw Taylor on tour with special guest Tristan Mackay

Following her acclaimed performance alongside Annie Lennox at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert in June, blues rock guitarist and singer/songwriter, Joanne Shaw Taylor, will release her new studio album “Almost Always Never” on Monday September 17th, a nationwide UK tour will follow in October, with very special guest Tristan Mackay.

Says Classic Rock magazine of the new album, “Fresh from an angel-wing cameo (with Annie Lennox) at the Diamond Jubliee Concert – falling to earth in style, on a tracklisting that explores a pile-up of car-crash relationships via some enjoyably feral fretwork... out verdict is clear: a brilliant return.” The Blues Magazine says of the new album – “Moving to America has brought out the best for the Birmingham-born guitarist’s third album all of which is bursting with catchy riffs and superbly constructed guitar solos.”

Born and raised in the Black Country, Joanne was first discovered by Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) as a 16-year-old guitar prodigy. Now, one of the hottest young names in British Blues, Joanne’s UK tour will see her performing new tracks from Almost Always Never, alongside songs from her two previous albums - White Sugar (2009) and Diamonds in the Dirt (2010).

In 2010 and 2011, Joanne was voted “Best British Female Vocalist” at the British Blues Awards. Her new album is produced in Austin, Texas by the legendary Mike McCarthy (Spoon, ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Patty Griffin), features David Garza (keyboards), Billy White (bass, guitar) and J.J. Johnson (drums). Previously, Garza has worked with the Fiona Apple, Juliana Hatfield, and Blues Traveller, while J.J. Johnson has played with John Mayer.

Tristan Mackay self recorded and released his first two EPs “Tales From A Bedroom Orchestra” and “Live From The Lounge” to critical acclaim. His song ‘The Wine And Me’ was featured in the Channel 4’s “Skins.” Another of the songs from his first EP, “Be All That You Can Be” was featured by Aled Jones on BBC Radio 2’s “Good Morning Sunday.” Earlier this year he released his debut album “Out Along The Wire.”
