Doro - Raise your fist

Doro's new album is finally here, and her fans will be extremely happy. Over the years, first with Warlock and since then as Doro, she has released a steady stream of albums with consistently hight quality and featuring a mix of rock anthems and ballads. Her last album (Fear no evil) came out in early 2009, shortly after she celebrated 25 years of rock, and now in her 29th year of making music, "Raise your fist" is here. It's her first album for new label Nuclear Blast.

Brief comments on a few of the tracks...

"Raise your fist in the air" is another classic Doro rock anthem and is the first single to be taken from the album - I can't wait to hear this one played live.

"It still hurts" is a ballad, and a duet with Lemmy. I must admit to having had major doubts when I heard Lemmy was appearing on a ballad as his voice really doesnt seem suited for that type of song, but I was very wrong - he really does a superb job on this song and the end result is far better than I could have hoped for. It's an excellent track.

"Grab the bull (Last man standing)" is a great rock song and features the talents of Ozzy/Firewind guitarist Gus G.

"Engel" is a slower track - one of those great metal ballads that Doro does so well. Again it sounds great and as with most of her ballads there is still plenty of metal there - the guitar work in particular keeps the song firmly grounded as a metal track despite it being a ballad. Unlike most of Doro's songs which are sung in English, this one is in German

"Victory" is another great heavy rock track that sounds great - classic Doro really.

"Hero" was the first song written for the album, over two years ago, and is a tribute to Ronnie James Dio. Doro knew Ronnie James Dio well having first toured with him in the late 80s, so writes from the heart here, and as a result this is a beautiful tribute to one of the greatest Rock/Metal singers ever.

Another great album from Doro.

Doro will be touring Europe in November including UK dates in London and Bristol.
