Universal Music Catalogue launches Boss Shots

BOSS SHOTS - THE HOME OF CLASSIC SKA, REGGAE, ROOTS & DUB, Launches 2013

Boss Shots is the home of classic Ska, Reggae, Roots and Dub. Created by Universal Music Catalogue UK, Boss Shots is the new umbrella covering classic Reggae repertoire from labels including Top Deck, Island Records and Front Line.

The website and store, www.bossshots.com, plus social networks (Twitter, Facebook, Soundcloud, Instagram) will be launched on Monday 25th February.

From that date, Reggae fans everywhere will have access to all the latest news and information about their favourite artists, plus gig updates, images, video content and Merchandise, as well as news of the latest CD’s, vinyl and digital releases. They will also be able to interact with Boss Shots and other fans, with an appreciation society to be introduced very soon.

The launch of Boss Shots coincides with the release of two new Island Presents titles – ‘Ska’ and ‘Rock Steady’, each comprising 40 classic tracks that first appeared in the UK on the famed Island imprint and its sister Black Swan subsidiary during the 1960s.

In response to popular demand, the 10” single is revived, the series kicks off with four previously unissued killer Ska tracks from Duke Reid’s legendary Treasure Isle archives – The Zodiacs superb mid-sixties version of the Coasters’ Wake Me, Shake Me; Lyn Tait and Baba Brooks’ sublime cut of the Duane Eddy instrumental, Forty Miles of Bad Road, I Can’t Do The Ska by The Zodiacs and a cracking version of A – You’re Adorable, performed by Alton Ellis & The Flames.

There’s also a new 7” double A side of Tommy McCook’s 1965 cover of the Beatles’ Michelle and The Teacher Man’s The Lesson.

Detailed information on all of these releases and much, much more will be found at www.bossshots.com from 25th February.

The day-to-day running of Boss Shots will be ably handled by the Reggae-loving team currently behind Trojan Records.
