First up were Welsh rockers Buffalo Summer who I've seen before and enjoyed - their bluesy rock is great for getting the crowd going, and despite the venue being almost empty when they took to the stage, it had filled up within a couple of songs and they clearly had some fans in the audience judging by the cheers. Songs such as "Bird on a wire" and "Down to the river" went down very well with the crowd. It was a fairly short set of around half an hour but that was more than enough time for them to impress the crowd and I'm sure they'll have won a few new fans tonight.

Next up were The Cadillac Three, who took to the stage here just 30 minutes after they came off stage at Islington academy where they'd supported Blackberry Smoke, so a busy night for them with two gigs in one night, both in front of good crowds. As the name suggests, they are a three piece band with a drummer, a guitarist/singer and a lap steel guitar player who plays seated.

They kicked off with the first track from their album "Tenessee Mojo"and right from the start it was clear that they were a good choice to support The Graveltones as they went down a storm. Their Southern rock really went down very well with the crowd - Buffalo Summer had gone down well but The Cadillac Three definitely took things up a notch. As you'd expect from a band with one album out, the set was built around songs from the album, with songs including "Days of gold" and "White lightning" getting an airing.
During Neil Mason's drum solo Jaren Johnston (singer/guitarist) picked up a spre set of drumsticks and joined in which worked well. The band put in a great set and really did a great job warming the crowd up for the headliners, The Graveltones.

This was my first time seeing The Graveltones but I'd heard plenty of good reports so was expecting something good. I was slightly surprised when they came out and proved to be a two piece band, but when they started to play I was impressed. I hadn't expected a two-piece band to have such a loud sound and to sound so good. These guys are impressive. It's a really high energy performance and the time just flew by. They play Rock with some blues and it's ridiculously catchy. The crowd had given The Cadillac Three a great reception but that was nothing compared to the reception they gave The Graveltones. If you haven't seen The Graveltones before then I recommend you go see them 0 it'll be a great gig.
