Napalm/Sound Pollution

30 years, that was celebrated by GRAVE DIGGER and a host of guests at Wacken Open Air 2010. The reaction to all epic additions was so positive that this EP was planned. Here both old chestnuts and new songs get an update with more vocalists, changed arrangements and extra choirs.

“The Ballad of Mary” is augmented by DORO and VAN CANTO, “Rebellion” gets the same treatment but by Hansi Kursch (BLIND GUARDIAN) and VAN CANTO. Both tracks have another slab of famous people and perhaps a dose of something more Tolkien inspired. The good thing about the title track is that a female voice adds credibility, but the voice is not as special as it used to be. Her accent is not exactly Scottish either. All the crowd pleasing elements are augmented, even more in the extended symphonic version, which is actually shorter! “Rebellion” is the band´s number one hit, here it is somewhere between the original and VAN CANTOS version. But the track is eternal and can handle almost everything that is done to it. If the first three songs seem pointless, the real winners are “Highland Farewell” and “Coming Home”. They both feel fatter production wise and even less German. These two tracks are the main reason for buying this album.
